Virgin Prunes – Heresie (Expanded Edition) [CD]

Description

Seminal early- '80 s release from Dublin's most uncompromising post-punk collective, Heresie captures Virgin Prunes at their most raw, ritualistic, and confrontational. Released in 1982, the album compiles crucial early recordings that blur the boundaries between post-punk, industrial, performance art, and goth experimentation. Abrasive rhythms, atonal textures, and emotionally charged vocals define a sound that helped shape the darker, more extreme fringes of the post-punk movement. This Expanded Edition includes the original album remastered and features a rare live recording from the Rex Club in Paris. Housed with a 16-page booklet and featuring new sleeve notes by Jon Wood, this edition makes a vital and long hard-to-find title accessible once again in definitive form. Essential listening for fans of Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire and adventurous post-punk archives.
