Arne DomnÈrus was a jazz pioneer in post-war Europe and a leading figure in Scandinavian jazz. His lucid style, led a successful band and served as a model for aspiring musicians of several generations.†Since the end of the 50s, Bernt Rosengren has also been one of the most important jazz voices in Europe. The first band was Jazzclub 57 and since then there have been several own ensembles and a long series of collaborations with Swedish and international musicians. This album is a result of wonderful later work from these jazz legends, whose paths have crossed often over the years, blowing together beautifully in a sympathetic setting. There's wonderful saxophone interplay on nearly every number, as Domnerus plays mostly alto on the record, and only a bit of his famous clarinet, and Rosengren plays tenor on almost every track, except one, which features some great flute! Rhythms are very laidback and open, letting the main energy come from the reed players. Accompanied by Jan Lundgren on piano, Hans Backenroth on bass, and Aage Tangaard on drums
