Boney M. was a Euro-Caribbean vocal group created in Frankfurt, West Germany during 1976 by German singer-songwriter and record producer Frank Farian, who was their main songwriter. The 4 original members of their official line-up were Liz Mitchell & Marcia Barrett from Jamaica, Maizie Williams from Montserrat and Bobby Farrell, a performing artist from the Dutch Caribbean colony of Aruba. Boney M. were most popular during the disco era of the late '70s. A number of line-ups of the band have performed since the '80s. The group has sold c. 80 million records worldwide, being best known for hits including 'Daddy Cool', 'Ma Baker', 'Belfast', 'Sunny', 'Rasputin', 'Mary's Boy Child - Oh My Lord', 'Brown Girl in the Ring & 'Rivers of Babylon'.
