Gagaku: Ancient Japanese Court Music [Remastered]

An ancient Japanese imperial court music and dance that dates back to the 5th century, Gagaku has been performed at the Imperial Court in Kyoto for several centuries. Considered the oldest classical music in Japan, Gagaku was introduced into Japan with Buddhism from China. This historic recording features the Nippon Gagaku Kai ensemble performing the ancient music. All selections have been newly remastered.
