Love And Bombs [CD]

This will be Boston-based Jake Brennan's first full-length release. Arriving on the Boston scene with a rock 'n' roll swagger and a barroom poet's heart, Brennan started out with the hardcore band, Cast Iron Hike (Victory Records), before turning his songwriting talents to Americana stained rock 'n' roll with songs ranging from high energy heartbreak to hardcore balladry, evoking Westerberg and early Petty, or, as the Boston Phoenix says, "Gram Parsons fronting the Attractions." Brennan & The Confidence Men have been getting attention in Boston for winning the 2004 WBCN Rumble (they're on the cover of the Boston Globe's weekend section today!) as well as their live shows. The band attracted the attention of Paul Q. Kolderie, erstwhile producer of everyone from Morphine to the Pixies to Uncle Tupelo to Radiohead to Hole, who took the band under his wing and recorded these sessions as well as those included on the releases bonus DVD, Singer-Songriot.
