Fine Food Market's debut album Alas Time Has Passed is an intimate and dynamic folk-pop cocktail narrating a new world.Following a period of big changes-moving out on her own, leaving a long-term relationship, and squaring off her discomfort with solitude-Sophie Perras began looking around and asking, what is left now? She retraces her childhood memories in nine groove-infused vignettes, unintentionally reevaluating all the masculine relationships in her life, familial and romantic.Recorded live off the floor in a cabin in the Laurentian mountains, the album carries the immediacy of it's songwriting into the recording process. Each song assumes the form it requires- from country-inflected arrangements featuring pedal steel, fiddle, saxophone and a full choir, to stripped-back piano ballads.Fun-loving pop hooks, playful turns of phrase, and theatrical melancholy coexist. Perras' charm lies in her emotional elasticity, balancing adventure and airiness with a stark sadness and sensitivity.
