"Thru The Underpass - Underground Boston And The 60s Revolution" takes us from the folk music and the blues performed at the Unicorn Coffee House and the Catacombs to the light show and acid music experiences found at the Boston Tea Party and the Psychedelic Supermarket. The decade moved us from an acoustic Bob Dylan to an electric Jimi Hendrix. We became aware of pot and then LSD, free love, mysticism, FM radio, and cosmic happenings. We met Andy Warhol, Peter Max, and Twiggy, while wearing and sharing the latest Pop fashions. We communicated with each other through our music and art while experimenting with a fresh outlook and a new society. There were hippies, politicians, cops, and squatters on Boston Common. There were those peaceful and carefree Sunday afternoon concerts at Summerthing in Harvard Square. These are those funny and not-so-funny rock n' roll moments sprinkled with real life hocus-pocus and sleight-of-hand. Then there was the rise of Richard Milhous Nixon, the assignations of Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy, the burning subway stations, the attack on the draft-resisters at the Old South Church, the Equal Rights Equal Pay March, and an unending war called Vietnam.
