Lo-fi loose punk wallowing in the blues. - Kerrang Just when you thought that the whole garage scene had been played out and is running on empty, along comes Lincoln, Nebraska's Brimstone Howl. Good rock 'n' roll should be noisy, testosterone fueled, come from the gutter and get under the skin of those who don't know any better. Mission accomplished. - Your Flesh Four boyish, moustachioed hoodlums channelling scuzz-punk touchstones like The Sonics, the Gun Club, and something of wilderness derangement of Pixies Surfer Rosa. Importantly, though, between the screeching harp and teeth-rattling tempos, there are great songs. - Uncut Production by Black keys frontman Dan Auerbach gives Brimstone Howl some requisite vintage-sounding reverb, but theres nothing reverent about these Nebraskans unholy hot-wiring of the Sonics, the Damned and the Blues Explosion. - Magnet Channels the ghosts of Jim Morrison and Rob Tyner with reverence and aplomb - Amplifier A foot-stomping, ass-shaking, roof-rattling, 30-minute sonic assault. - HearYa Part bluesy roots punk ala Gun Club, part Oblivians/Childish lo-fi raunch, part 60s British Invasion slop; Brimstone Howl is ALL rock'n'roll. - Lowcut
